Gobby Flicks Comedy is a Birmingham based, mixed bill fundraiser celebrating funny women on and off screen. Featuring performances from TV regulars and local up-and-coming talent as well as a screening of a comedy short film.

Proceeds go to support the Gobby Girl Film Fund. This fund will support female writers and directors in producing their own comedy shorts that will be screened at future nights.

A study in 2022 found that only a third of UK television directors are female. We want to help redress the balance. Have a laugh and feel smug about supporting a good cause while you do it!

Our next show will be hosted at Glee Club in Birmingham on International Women's Day (8th March) with our resident MC Tal Davies, Kelly Griffiths, Jo Enright & Desiree Burch.

The purpose of the night is to support creatives.

In 2018 the WGGB found that only 18% of sitcoms were written by women. At best, the 2022 Diamond study showed female directors made up only 33% - although we believe this slides to less than 25% in Comedy.

Our goal is to redress the balance!

Money raised from the night will go into the Gobby Girl Film Fund. This fund will support female writers and directors in producing their own comedy shorts that will be screened at future nights.

To learn more about the stats that inspired the fund, see the links below.

Applications for funding are not yet open, however if you have a comedy short that you would like to screen at one of our nights, email brum@gobbygirl.com and use the subject Gobby Flicks Submission.
